氦氣(原子序為4、原子量為4.002602)是質量僅次於氫的氣體,具備可滲入微小間隙的優異能力,因此被用於真空設備或密封物件的測漏(leakage detection)。氦氣測漏儀顧名思義便是專門偵測氦氣分子的設備,當特別注入的氦氣自檢測中的真空設備或物件滲出而被氦氣測漏儀所檢知,便代表有滲漏現象,此一滲漏現象則以洩漏率(mbar·l/s)來表示。氦氣測漏儀的應用領域包含:
